baby in making

The last post sparked off an interesting conversation of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and our genes. Which brings me to the thought of babies..

Remember this childhood tease that we used on our friends and they on us when we found out whom we liked?

Ck and Chel sitting on a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G,
First comes LOVE
Then comes MARRIAGE
Then comes a BABY in a baby carriage

The questions that we were bombarded with when we were dating, were all in the line of WHEN we would be tying the knot. Now that we're married, (and not even for a whole day!) we had people asking us when we were having a baby! Come on.. Can't we even enjoy being married first??

So people listen up! We are not having a baby. Well, at least not yet.. And not for a number of years to come. How many years? At most 10 years. (I've been given a deadline by my darling husband! hehe..) I do know for a fact that my in-laws would love to have a baby to dote over "now". Including Uncle Cy! Sorry guys... Got to wait for MY biological clock to start ticking loud. Not just any loud volume but eardrum splitting "please let it stop!!" loud.

How many babies will we have??

ck: 2! Period! No more... No less...
chel: Got names?
ck: Charlotte Megan K & Tobias Maximilian K! or Charlie & Toby in short.
*chel thinks*: I can see the "name-butchering" by school kids & government employees already...
chel: boy or girl first?
ck: Doesn't matter.. As long as they're healthy!
everyone: Awwwww........

Back to the topic of OCD, I wonder how much of each one of us will our children have.. Even their looks! Ck wants our children to have my nose and skin. I want them to have his brown eyes. With him being 1/8th Mat Salleh, 1/8th Dusun and 3/4 Chinese, will they in some ways have traits of being 'non-chinese'? Just not tooooooooooooo hairy! Especially for little Charlie..

Will they look like us as babies??

What about their characters? Calm and level headed like ck or quick and hot tempered like me? Musically inclined? Athletic? Studious? So many questions! So many 'I wonder's!..

All I do know though is that everything is God given.. to His perfection! No babies yet but I do pray that regardless of all traits, little Charlie and little Toby love God. And that we can be good parents by example and as teachers of their lives. We are 'in a way' making babies now. Just by preparing ourselves in the ways we live our lives..

6 weird things about ck...

Without further ado...

1)
This is the first ever confirmation I am giving, & it will probably be the last too. I have to confess that I'm a geek. I enjoy all things Tech & Science! I wonder if I'm the only one who remembered & enjoyed the old 80s & 90s TV show, "Beyond 2000". When I was young & bored at home, I took things apart & I put them back together again (almost all of them successfully). I run Linux on the majority of my computers! I enjoy reading instruction manuals too... Did I just say that out loud???

2)
As previously stated, I enjoy reading. Not only instruction manuals, but blogs, newspapers, magazines, encyclopedias...
I read a lot when I was young, I hunted up & down the whole house to find something to read. If I had finished reading everything, I'd go back & re-read whatever I wanted or whatever I hadn't read in awhile. I loved reading so much I would bring a torchlight to bed so I could continue reading under the blanket after everyone had fallen asleep.

3)
Like my dear ol' bro, jadesimian, I can be a little OCD. Did he rub off on me? I dunno, maybe it runs in the family, I can see OCD traits in all the males in my family.
I like to do things in a proper order. Be it logical or even chronological, it's all about *order*.
E.g., Shopping List has 3 items, I go through it from top to bottom. Even if item 1 & 2 are on opposite ends of the store! I hope shopping malls don't get any bigger in Brunei...

4)
I also like to be efficient. E.g., "What's the fastest route to the store & how fast can I finish shopping there?" Just make sure that shopping list is in the proper order or my efficiency is screwed!

5)
I *LOVE* food (Eating it, not making it). All sorts of food too... Olives, "bahkuteh", lamb chops, rojak, mum's home-made spaghetti, Italian pizzas, ABC with everything in it, pork sausages, super-oily malay-style mee goreng, rum 'n' raisin ice cream, Roti John, wife's home-made cookies, Kuala Lurah (chicken wings & stingray), creamy pastas, snake soup, Belgian Chocolates, chinese herbal teas, Indian food, Spanakopita & more. Lots more. If it can clog your arteries, it's gooooooood!!! God bless the fantabulous cook who happens to be my wife! Only problem is my expanding midriff...

6)
Last but not least. When I was young, probably about 3 or 4 years old I think (too young to remember), I ran around the house in my underwear! And yes, there are or were pictures, but I honestly don't know where they are now. =D
'Nuff said!

Honourable mention & extra gem for those who know us:
According to sources, when chel & I were very young, we were both on the same plane going to Singapore! or was it Kuching?? =S

Ok, this tagging thing's gonna be killed here, I'm not tagging anybody! I'm weird like that...

The weird wife

Got tagged.. For the first time too!

The rules are:
"Those who get tagged must post 6 weird things about themselves in their blog and state the rules clearly. At the end of the post, you must choose 6 other people to tag."

Oh well, better get cracking to figuring out how weird I am..

1. ... I can't think of anything weird!... *deep breath* Ok one more try!

Weird fact # 1
I need to wash my feet EVERYTIME before I go to bed. If I've already washed my feet and then suddenly realise that I've forgotten something somewhere like my mobile, I'll go get it, wash my feet THEN go to bed. No wash feet, no bed.

And that brings to weird fact #2.
My bed's the cleanest part of the house. I won't allow anyone to sit or lie on it unless you've just showered and/or have just put on freshly cleaned clothes. Otherwise, forget it. (By the way, pillows are off limits to everyone! Don't intend to lie my face on where you left your butt or feet imprint. Think of all the germs! Pimpleville....)

Weird fact #3
I can't sleep unless I have my little pillow covering my eyes and ears. Complete darkness and silence are 2 key ingredients to a good sleep for me but for some reason, I'm afraid of the dark! I bring that little pillow everywhere i go. So it has gone travelling more than anything else i own! IF I don't have it, (sadly this has happened a few times) a nice soft towel or t-shirt does the job but not anywhere as well as my little pillow..

Weird fact #4
I'm obsessed with the colour RED or any variants of it. Almost everything I own that can be red IS red. Except for my car and hair.

Weird fact #5
Prawns are number one on my list of favourite food. I love them so much that I would actually take time to peel all the prawns I want to eat at Chinese wedding dinners when other people will just have one or two as they're not bothered to peel them.
To peeps who went to our wedding dinner: Did you noticed that we had prawns and only prawns instead of the common seafood fare for Yam Basket? My doing!

Weird fact #6
I like the feeling of being totally clean after showering so... I also brush my teeth! Which means I brush my teeth on an average of 3 times a day. Wake up brush, shower brush and before bed brush. If I take more showers, I brush more!!

That's it! Woohoo!! I actually finished it and ALL in one sitting.... *pat on back*

Do I really have to tag others? Everyone seemed to have gotten tagged already one way or another. But seriously, WHO comes up with these tag ideas anyway?? Hmmm... maybe I should start one..

Month long marriage life

Been MIA for almost a month! tsk tsk.. not good at all. It's not that marriage life has been keeping us sooo busy. (Also not saying that marriage life isn't good ) It's just been an eventful 'almost one' month.

Let's see, we had

Valentine's Day which happened in KK & Brunei. A special brekkie at Fleurdlys. It's rare to have breakfast together. It's nice not having to wash up after it too! No plans were made for the "usual Valentine's dinner" but we were in a way, forced by Ck's aunt to do so. Her words to me were quote & unquote "You HAVE to go and celebrate Valentine's Day! Do it now while you can before you get older like me!"

So.. after a couple hours of shopping, we ended up in an Italian fusion restaurant by the sea which left us waiting for over an hour just for dinner.. Let's just say that I rather had Burger King!

KK trip! 14th - 21st Feb. Spent V-day and Chinese New Year there. Lots of shopping to do but didn't get to go to the beach or do any "beachy" stuffs.. Oh well, at least we had a car to drive around and I didn't get motion sickness from the plane! If it was a longer flight, I think I would have been ..
Housewarming Party at our home where we had of tons of BBQ (chicken wings, sausages of all shape, size & flavour, prawn & cuttlefish balls and pork bellies..) and tons of pasta!

Big Big thank yous to John and Lorene for bbqing along side with me!

Lesson learnt from the party:
1. Should let others handle bbq and go mingle with guests.
2. Cleaning before and after a party all by ourselves ain't no piece of cake!

Chinese New Year! The year we have the right to give away 'ang pows'. The year which we also "technically" ran away (more like flew away) from having to give ang pows! Not that we don't want to give but we JUST had a wedding. No sense in killing our banking account just because it's Chinese New Year right? RIGHT

We came up with this rule for ang pows.
3 groups - Siblings, family and non-family..
Family: Students (no source of income)
Non- family: 12 and below

Didn't use the rule at all because we gave only to siblings and our parents so the rest of you, wait until next year k? When finances are more stable..

Highlight of Chinese New Year in KK, lion dances! These are not just nay lion dances, we actually got to see a group that competes nationwide and was in 2nd place. Also at the particular open house, there were suckling pigs and roast lambs! Fattening........

A little quiet on the fireworks but good enough to "humor" me. FYI, I LOVE fireworks. Every year, Sultan's birthday, it's a no miss for me to be at the field getting the best possible view to watch fireworks

Bitesized:
Our fondue set's no longer a virgin! It was meant to be an all-girls night but being the man of the house, ck was cordially invited by the girls to join us. Chocolate fondue.. YUMMY! More all-girls chocolate fondue nights coming up..

We're on our way to being our own bosses. At the mean time, we'll be starting up Kinderchef classes. Cooking for kids from 7 - 12 years old. If you know anyone interested, call 877 3012 or email kreativgarten@gmail.com for more details.

That's it I think. A whole month's worth of marriage life summarised into ... paragraphs. Hehe.. Will post up pictures soon when I find the time to downsize them to browser friendly sizes.

Just found out that we've been tagged by Ches. Am definitely going to do that in due time.. With Clyde's version too! (I'll TRY to make sure of it..)

Who We Are

Two long time good friends who played and worked together for so many years, found love and got married on 30.12.06

Soon, we'll be a family of 3! Due date 13.02.09 but hopefully on 03.02 instead as we will then have another running number pattern with Chel's sis on 03.01 and her mum on 03.03
